1. A few words about yourselves.
After my student days in which I gained an MPhil in History from JNU and BEd from Jamia Millia Islamia, I took to painting. My creative life started as a hobby and is now a career. While my husband was with the army, I undertook various art courses held under the aegis of the army. This has helped broaden my oeuvre. I have managed to learn several different styles of art taking advantage of the many postings in various locations across India my husband had. Not a trained fine arts graduate, I learnt the discipline under indigenous artists as an apprentice for short periods. Their many amazing introductions to their craft of colors and forms are the basis of my creations. I restrict myself to paintings, murals, and home décor items. My inspiration stems from traditional Indian designs and motifs, Egyptian art, nature and floral designs. I use a variety of medium like oils, acrylics, coffee, glass, terracota and clay for my work. I embellish surfaces like wood, canvas, cloth and glass. Besides paintings and murals I also work on glassware. Working on candle holders, hurricane lamps (shamadaans), vases and glass items are my comfort zone. I also organize exhibitions and set up stalls during festive season, such as the coming dussehra-diwali season. My art classes for ladies and children are gaining popularity. A keen observer of the art scene, I am a ready learner of new techniques and styles. I manage to balance my family life with my artistic endeavors.

5. Your ideal ambiance that brings out the artist in you…
My ideal ambience is the four walls of my home. I love doing my art work from home as in this way I balance my home front as well as work.
6. Three of your favorite products in your shop….
Just like a mother cannot differentiate from her children it is very difficult for me to pinpoint my best creations. But the ones I have put on craftsia my favourites would be:-
rajasthani mural key holder, ganesha wall mural and Orissa wheel mural.
7. Three of your favorite products in craftsia, from other shops….
The best I like about other artists are products from ‘ aola creations’, cards from ‘little things’ and clothes from ‘bhusavali’.

I have always been fascinated with water colour paintings and would love to learn them professionally.
10. Artistic plans for the future? What can we hope to see in farah creations in future?
In the future I hope to learn new craft techniques and try to utilize traditional Indian art forms to make items which are more relevant and useful today. Making things with traditional techniques but with a whole new touch and modern look.
Craftsia wishes Farah all the best for her future projects and hope her learning continues. Thank you Farah for your time.
